Simon Cosbey

Simon Cosbey, BSc (Hons.) CSci CChem FRSC is a Forensic Toxicologist,

Principal Scientist and Scientific Director of NIVHA Laboratory Services Ltd. He is Lead Court Reporting Officer for all case reporting and interpretation.

Simon was formerly an experienced Court Reporting Officer in one of the UK’s main Forensic Science laboratories. Over a period of more than 30 years he reported many thousands of criminal and coroner’s drugs and toxicology cases. He also contributed significantly to the establishment and evolution of both drugs and toxicology specialisms within the laboratory.

He was involved in forensic toxicology at a national level for many years and was elected treasurer of UKIAFT (United Kingdom & Ireland Association of Forensic Toxicologists) in 2010 and was a Council member until 2014. Responsible for preparing and publishing new UKIAFT guidelines for Professional Training & Development within forensic toxicology (2017).

Simon has acted as an International Consultant to the United Nations Office for Drugs and Crime (UNODC), NI-CO (Northern Ireland Cooperation Overseas) & ETI Consulting (Paris). Since 2014 he has provided forensic drugs and toxicology training in a number of overseas territories including Palestine, Kazakhstan and Kosovo.
